Commercial Specialty Contractors Level 1 in Oregon

The Commercial Specialty Contractor Level 1 (CSC1) license covers contractors performing a specific trade on smaller commercial projects, within the size and value limits defined by the Oregon CCB. There are currently 1,047 active CSC1 licenses in Oregon.

The CSC1 is Oregon's entry-level commercial specialty license - appropriate for contractors performing defined trade work on commercial properties that fall below the threshold requiring a CSC2. Common CSC1 work includes commercial painting on smaller buildings, light commercial flooring, commercial landscaping, and similar limited-scope specialty work.

Like all CCB licenses, a CSC1 requires an active surety bond and liability insurance. Contractors whose commercial project scope regularly exceeds CSC1 limits must upgrade to a CSC2 license. Performing work outside the authorized license scope is a CCB violation.

When hiring a CSC1 contractor for commercial work, confirm both that the license is Active and that the project falls within the CSC1 authorization limits. For projects near the threshold, ask the contractor directly whether their license covers the full scope - and get the answer in writing as part of the contract.
