Home Energy Performance Score Contractors in Oregon
Home Energy Performance Score Contractors (RHEPSC) are licensed by the Oregon CCB to assess and score the energy performance of residential homes under Oregon's Home Energy Score program. There are currently 23 active RHEPSC licenses in Oregon - one of the smallest and most specialized CCB license categories.
Oregon's Home Energy Score program provides homeowners and buyers with a standardized assessment of a home's energy efficiency on a 1–10 scale, based on the home's construction features, insulation, windows, heating and cooling systems, and water heating. An RHEPSC-licensed contractor performs this assessment following the U.S. Department of Energy's Home Energy Score methodology and provides a report with the score and recommended improvements.
A Home Energy Score is increasingly relevant in Oregon real estate transactions. Some Oregon municipalities require a Home Energy Score to be disclosed at the time of sale. Buyers can use the score to evaluate likely energy costs and to prioritize efficiency improvements. Sellers can use a strong score as a marketing differentiator.
RHEPSC licensees are exempt from CCB continuing education requirements - one of the few CCB license categories with this exemption. However, they must maintain their Department of Energy assessor certification to remain eligible for the RHEPSC license. Verify the license is Active before commissioning an assessment.
